As I sit on the couch, belly full of homemade pizza and bread sticks, watching Star Trek DS9, the one thought running through my head is "I am so spoiled!"
My day of being spoiled began with flowers mysteriously arriving for me at work this afternoon. The most mysterious thing being that they weren't for me at first. The main office called up to my office and told one of the English teachers that flowers had arrived for my co-worker, Dan. This sounded a bit odd to everyone, but he went down to the office and came back with an arrangement of beautiful pink flowers. Still terribly confused we took a look at the delivery slip, which clearly said (in both English and Japanese):
Recipient: JENNIFER WCISEL.
I suppose foreign names can be confusing for Japanese people, but considering that I'm a Caucasian female and Dan is an Asian male and I've worked here for 3 years and the people in the office are also the people responsible for my paycheck... I have no idea how they confused us! I was giggling all day thinking about Dan carrying a bunch of flowers through the school for all to see. Oh, the rumors that must have started!
Anyway, the flowers were from the Twin, who knew I was having a rough time of it lately. The snow and cold, isolation and frustration, and boredom at work are definitely taking their toll on me. But I do feel much better after going out this past weekend and drinking and chatting with friends. Plus flowers!
