In Tokyo

Here are some photo from our long weekend in Tokyo!

Tokyo has seriously become one of my favorite places on earth. It really is insane and amazing. Sean and I spent four days there last weekend and had a blast shopping and pigging out on American food.

I'm probably not the greatest person to ask about travel advice, since on my visits I like to shop at the non-Japanese stores and eat at American restaurants. In my small "city" the only U.S. restaurants we have are McDonald's and KFC (which is nothing like U.S. KFC). This time we were able to hit a TGI Friday's, Outback Steak House and a Mexican restaurant called El Toro.

We also spent a lot of time shopping in Harajuku, Shibuya and Ikebukuro. The one piece of travel advice I can give is you HAVE to go to Tokyu Hands and you DON'T have to eat at those shitty ticket/counter ramen shops (they're not good). Tokyu Hands is this giant store filled with... stuff. There's home decor, DIY materials, beauty products and most importantly, crazy stuff and character goods! It's the perfect place to get postcards, stickers, cellphone charms and weird games and gadgets. It's the best.
Yes, they sell mix and molds to make corn dogs (A.K.A American Dogs) in the microwave, in addition to millions of other fascinating things. If you want to see all those "What are you thinking, Japan?" products and actually buy some seriously cute souvenirs this is the place to go!
